About Us
Big Springs Shooting Complex was established in 2005 by Brownells, Inc. for the purpose of providing a premier shooting facility for law enforcement agencies, shooting clubs/camps, youth groups, and private citizens.

Big Springs Shooting Complex consists of 360 acres with an additional 350 leased acres and 2 natural springs on the property. On those 360 acres, there is a 500-yard range and a 100-yard range. The fire lines at the rifle ranges are covered by a roof. Located adjacent to the rifle ranges are two 50-yard pistol ranges. Located at the pistol rages are two enclosed storage buildings. The rifle and pistol ranges have several different range props and steel targets. Also located on the property are three trap houses, skeet house, and a crazy quail. Several federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies utilize the rifle and pistol ranges. We also have several privately owned weapons/tactics firms utilizing our facility.

Our biggest and most satisfying achievement is hosting several youth oriented shooting events. Here is a small sample of the youth shooting events we host: local and state 4-H shooting sports, Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP), Iowa hunter education, Pheasants Forever youth day, Pheasants Forever youth hunt and Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP). We have also hosted Babes With Bullets Shooting Camp. This camp successfully introduces women to shooting sports.
Due to the excellent habitat, Big Springs Shooting Complex is the home base for the Hawkeye Chapter of North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA). Several dog trials are held each year.
Big Springs Shooting Complex is also a license hunting preserve and has an excellent habitat for pheasants, quail, and chuckar. The area is planted with native prairie grasses and flowers.
